In Partnership with Google.org
The NCBCE AI Fellows program, in partnership with Google.org, will generate a network of exceptional NC educators to serve as artificial intelligence (AI) leaders and mentors in their school communities. Through this experience, Fellows will implement ethical AI pedagogical strategies, introduce the latest in technological resources, develop innovative curriculum, and enhance AI leadership skills. Collectively, these methods are poised to elevate ethical AI education in North Carolina while creating expanded learning opportunities for students, sparking interest and engagement with AI, and preparing them for an AI-enabled world.
Beyond their classrooms, Fellows will be leaders and mentors, providing valuable professional development resources for colleagues and conducting in-house training sessions that strengthen their school’s overall AI teaching capacity. With a strategic approach to building AI educational leadership within North Carolina schools, the AI Fellows program will create a powerful multiplier effect that impact school communities, businesses, and our state’s future workforce.
Applicants may teach in any subject area within grades 6-12 in NC. Selected Fellows will receive virtual and in-person trainings throughout the academic year, ongoing leadership support, a $1,000 technology stipend, and be among a strong community of like-minded educators.
Applications for the 2026-27 cohort will be accepted from April 7-May 15, 2026. Twenty Fellows will be selected for this cohort. For questions, email megan.johnson@nc.gov.
