Unit Description
This final unit explores two topics that expand upon the topics addressed earlier in the CompTIA ITF+ Manual. Wireless and Internet of Things (IoT) devices are reintroduced with an opportunity for students to dig deeper into this growing area of technology development.
If students successfully configured a wireless network and configured devices to it in Unit 4, they may want to explore different areas related to wireless and IoT devices. Because of the high interest in personal wireless devices, technicians have a variety of topics they can cover under the topic of configuring wireless devices, such as common repairs to phones (e.g., cracked screens and optimizing performance), purchasing considerations, setting up and monitoring home IoT devices, and others. Consider asking students for areas of interest as topics to explore.
The final week allows students to consider IT career options, including the possibility of seeking IT support positions in the near future. They will explore different IT career trajectories, many of which become available after experience with IT support positions. They also have the opportunity to begin gathering or identifying resources that will help them find employment in IT, such as a resume, portfolio, or certifications.
